Why Stripe Connect
Two things matter. First, your club is the merchant of record on every member transaction — no payouts from Freyaa, no waiting on a marketplace settlement schedule. Stripe deposits to your bank on its standard 2–7 day rolling basis. Second, you keep your relationship with Stripe: refunds, disputes, tax exports all happen in Stripe's dashboard, not buried under a Freyaa layer.
Step 1: Connect your Stripe account
Open /dashboard/settings?tab=payments. You'll see a "Connect Stripe" button. It opens a Stripe-hosted onboarding flow.
Stripe asks for: business name, address, the legal owners of the club, a bank account, and a verification document (driver's licence or passport). For most UK clubs this takes 10–15 minutes.
Step 2: Verify your bank details
Stripe places a small test deposit (under £1) into the bank account you provide. You confirm the amount in the Stripe dashboard within 1–2 business days. Until that's verified Stripe will accept charges but hold payouts.
Step 3: Test with a £1 charge
Use Stripe's test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 (any future expiry, any CVC, any postcode) to put through a £1 test booking. Confirm it shows up in your Stripe dashboard under Payments with the right amount.
If you're using the demo seed, the test card flow is wired up already. Swap to live keys via the Stripe dashboard's "View live data" toggle when you're ready.
Fees and what Freyaa takes
Stripe charges its standard 1.5% + 20p on UK domestic cards (their pricing page is authoritative). Freyaa does not take a percentage of member transactions on Pro and below. Enterprise has a custom fee structure if your volume warrants it.
Tournament entry fees and lesson payments use the same rails. Refunds are handled from the booking or registration record — they reverse the original payment and any Stripe fee is non-refundable per Stripe's policy.
Common questions
- Can I use multiple Stripe accounts? One per club. If you run multiple sites under one club they share the Stripe connection.
- What about VAT? Configurable per court / tournament. The setting determines whether the price shown to members is gross or net of VAT, and the VAT line is included on the receipt.
- What if Stripe rejects my onboarding? Email hello@freyaa.club — we've helped clubs through Stripe's identity-verification edge cases before.
